Message From Governor Vicki November 22

I might be a bit premature, but I have some great news to share for our region.  We are growing by another club!  Our Region Membership Chair, Jackie Sillman of SI Marysville/Yuba City, has been busy this fall with chartering a new club in the Marysville area.  So please join me in welcoming Soroptimist International of Sutter-Yuba.  The official charter date will be 1/31/2017 with at least 13 charter members.  Can you say "Charter Party" on 1/31/2017? The club's first president will be Kathy Dickinson.  This club will be meeting in the evenings twice a month, more information to come on the details.
Jackie describes this group of women as a group of women that see a need in their community.  They remember the faces of people that the former SI Marysville-Yuba club impacted through community service.  They want to give women the opportunity to make a real difference in their lives.  They have been meeting already and are focusing on the Live Your Dream Award and the Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls programs.
Please help Jackie and I identify other potential areas for a new club.  Jackie said, " The 10 steps of chartering a club was extremely easy to follow!  It is a joy to meet with like minded women who always wanted to join a service club, but their jobs couldn't afford the time during the day.  When the SI Marysville-Yuba City club asked for help in October, it was no time before 10 woman came forward to help start the process.  We submitted the charter paperwork to SIA November 15th and meetings have started for the 13 charter members. Membership will grow with their evening club as their passion for helping women and girls is contagious!"
SIA Membership Director, Sue Haney, states that if a community can support a Starbucks, then they are able to support a Soroptimist club (something to do with demographics). So, do you know an area that has a Starbucks, but no Soroptimists?  If so, let me know and we will check it out as a possibility.
Thank you all for your commitment to serve your communities.  I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving.
