Governor's Message
42nd Annual Sierra Nevada Region Conference
I want to thank the almost 300 members who attended the conference in Reno. It was a whirlwind of events starting with a region board meeting and ending with a region board meeting (a joint new board/existing board meeting). Highlights for me: hosting the SIA President Elect Elizabeth Di Geronimo from Venezuela, laughing with the Lip Sync contestants, watching the Facebook videos, electing our next biennium board, our keynote Jennifer Spear on Saturday who had us all on our feet, hearing Governor Elect Lane's plans for us over the next two years (especially seeing the surprise when her son Scott was Skyped in from Japan), and of course, everyone's favorite, everything about Sunday. I've included theconference minutes to assist our club delegates with their reports to their clubs and anyone else who is interested.
Please complete the online evaluation if you haven't already completed one. Your opinion helps shape the next conference.
So much time and effort goes into trying to make this a rewarding and valuable experience for our members. I do hope that you left us on Sunday with more knowledge of Soroptimist, more enthusiasm and rejuvenation to carry out our mission during the next biennium where we will be reminded that "Girls with Dreams, Become Women with Vision" (Governor Elect Lane's theme for 2018-2020).
And for those of you that were there, know "You Got This"!
Governor Vicki
SNR Governor 2016-2018
Soroptimist Development Retreat
In just a few short weeks, we will be starting our new club year and SDR is a great way to start off the year! The retreat is a great time for a fresh start with fresh new ideas! We will have a professional speaker at our meals and there will be 20 workshops to choose from. There will be training for new officers of course, but there will also be tons of information on how to make your club stronger, as well as opportunities for personal growth like Mentoring and Woman Speak, a new way to look at and calm the fears of public speaking.
Hotel registration is open: Or you can call 800.723.6500  and use the code: SISDR18
Registration will be open later this week. Watch for the special E-Blast!!
Lane Parks, Gov. Elect; Jackie Sillman & Liesl Schmidt, 2018-20 SDR Coordinator
If You're Going to Japan...
I need to know.
I am compiling contact information for Sierra Nevada Region members who will be attending the SIA Convention in Yokohama Japan. We are planning the Region Night Out event where we all gather for some fun on one of the nights at Convention. Once our plans are in place, we will need to let you know.
We also want to be identifiable to each other and to other attendees. Governor Lane and I chose a beautiful purple pashmina that we can all wear and spot each other in a crowd. We will place our order on July 1st and we will have for you at the opening of Convention. These are at your cost of only $12. Click here for the order form.
I collected some names at the Breakout session at SNR Conference. No need to reply again.
Arigatou, Governor Vicki
Spring reminder from the SNR Strategic Planning Committee
I hope some of you were able to attend Jennifer Spear’s Strategic Planning Made Easy workshop at Conference. If so, do let me know your greatest take-away, useful to your club, so we can share these at the workshop coming up at Soroptimist Development Retreat (July 7 – 8, 2018).
It’s at this time of year many of you will be preparing your draft budget for the 2018/2019 club year. Consider creating a strategic plan, and factor into your budget, Dream It; Be It Career Support For Girls, Live Your Dream, Club Giving, and Governor Elect Lane’s project (like Dress A Girl). Also, your club retreat is another great time to create or update your strategic plan.
We would love to achieve 100% participation in Sierra Nevada Region’s programs and projects, moving from an individual set of program actions and results, to coordinated, collective program actions, with deep impact for women and girls. Creating a strategic plan facilitates the evaluation of how we spend our time and resources to shape our organization’s future.
Thank you to the clubs which have sent a copy of their plan to me already. I would still love a copy when you have one. Do let me know if you have questions; we’re here to help.
Best Wishes,
Lisa Fitzgerald, Chair
SNR Strategic Planning Committee

Update Your Roster With the Region
July is fast approaching, and hopefully most of you have your board in place for the 2018-2019 club year. The Region Roster needs to know who your President and Treasurer will be next year! Please take a few moments to fill out our Roster Change Form and return it back to me so that the Roster has all your current contact information. (link with attached form)
While you are filling out the Roster Change Form, don't forget that SIA also needs to know who your President and Treasurer are for the upcoming year. Send Form 200 in to SIA either electronically by updating your Club Roster or by downloading the Form 200 and mailing it to SIA at 1709 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103-6103.
Special Note: SIA is currently remodeling their website, and the search function is down; if you cannot find something, you can email them at or call them directly at 215-893-9000.

2018-2019 Roster Coordinator
Dream It, Be It
I’m excited to say that the Dream It Be It program is taking off in our region.  Such a great thing to see. With that in mind I want to remind all club chairs to fill out the evaluation forms on the SIA website within 30 days of your program.  And to also fill out and send to me the transmittal form once you have complete the evaluation.
If anyone needs any help with either of these, please feel free to reach out to me.
